What might happen to the Picturedrome if a multiplex cinema is built on the seafront at Bognor Regis
Just a short reminder about the Civic Society meeting tomorrow. Please come along if you can, we want to hear your views on ideas put to Arun by their consultants. Such as:
Should Arun build a Miniplex cinema on the Regis Centre car park? What will this do to the Picturedrome?
Should they send the Swansea Gardens bowlers and tennis players off to the West Park and sell off that site for housing/flats?
...
Should the Waterloo Square bowlers be similarly banished to the West Park and that site be changed into an "Events Garden," whatever that is?
Should the West Park be covered with bowls and tennis courts, commercial 5-a-side football pitches, jogging, athletics and cycle tracks, outdoor gym, pitch and putt? Where will local events gather, children run around, kickabout, fly kites etc? The consultants admit it's already well used.
The document proposing these things, and much else, mentions the Lottery as a source of funding no less than eight times, which might demonstrate a certain lack of imagination, plus government funding, section 106/CIL money, Sports Council, Arts Council, not to mention an ingenious trick of borrowing from notional future savings in order to fund something now. Hmmm....that's spending money we haven't actually GOT yet....wasn't that at least part of the reason this country got into the mess we're in now?
Come along and tell us what you think, also we want to know what you think would be GOOD for the Town.
REGIS CENTRE, 7.30pm, FRIDAY 13TH JANUARY. SEE YOU THERE!
