PETROL HEADS FROM BOGNOR REGIS MOTOR CLUB NEWS

43 Very lucky motorsport enthusiasts from Bognor Regis Motor Club took up Mike Earle's kind offer of a visit to his Motorsport Preparation Business on Thursday evening 23rd June 2011. Based in Littlehampton, Arena prepare and run the AON sponsored Ford Focus Cars in the British Touring Car Championship and are soon to prepare cars for the World Touring Car Championships too. 

The car mad enthusiasts, many who compete in both historic and modern

road and stage rallies, hillclimbs, sprints and autotests had the chance to "get up close and personal" to the cars. They met the team of dedicated technicians who meticulously prepare the cars from bare shells straight off the production line from Ford. Paring off kilos of weight and then spending up to 900 man hours strengthening the shell, fitted roll-cages and safety equipment and installing the engines and running gear. This very lucky group were also allowed access inside the Race Trucks, seeing how the cars and all the equipment are transported between races and given the chance to ask questions on every aspect of the sport.

All of the Arena Technicians have been working around the clock to have the cars race ready and two immaculate cars will be on display at Goodwood Festival of Speed with one taking on the challenge of the Goodwood Hill.

National Motorsport Week runs from 25th June through until 3rd July and is designed to highlight the exciting partnership between the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA), The Motorsports Association (MSA) and encourage participation in all aspects of Motorsport either as a spectator, marshal or competitor.
