Bognor Police Station
News this morning that Sussex police are planning to cut over 1000 jobs of which around 500 will be frontline officers.
Chief Constable Martin Richards has said cuts at the force are 'inevitable". The force has been instructed to cut £52 million from its budget over the next five years.
Mr Richards has not confirmed where the cuts will come from as he spoke on local Radio this morning saying "For some weeks now, we've had a series of work streams; probably one of the most fundamental being around the way we deliver neighbourhood policing, which we know is the number 1 priority for the public.
"That will still be delivered as a priority. But how we do it, how many police stations we have and how long they are open for are among the things being looked at very closely."

I'm sure the police waste of lot of monet spent on unneccessary equipment, costs and gadgets. The other day I was at the Bognor FC game and we were buzzed by a police helicopter for about 20 minutes trying to position itself so it could see the score board. Probably not the best use of resources and really no need for the helicopter to be patrolling over a minor league football match with abot 600 people watching..........also noisey and slightly annoying for those of us trying to watch the game.

ReportI certainly feel like 1000 jobs is a lot and it makes me wander - surely either the force is going to really struggle through it or, if they can simply afford to do that, then why were they ever needed in the first place?

ReportA little harsh perhaps on our Police service. My experience of them has always been positive and besides its not like the money is going somewhere else, it's simply being cut !!

ReportI think this is a good thing, Sussex Police provide an appalling level of service currently in Bognor Regis, It's impossible to get a crime investigated or officers out to deal with public disorder and violence. So will make no odds! I only hope the money is spent more effectively in other public services.
