CIVIC SOCIETY MEETING, FRIDAY 10th FEBRUARY, 7.30pm, REGIS CENTRE

IS THIS THE CONSULTATION WE CAN EXPECT? COME AND TELL ARUN'S NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE WHAT YOU THINK.

One meeting on Monday 30th January, attended by about 35 people, seems to be all the consultation we're getting about how the Sainsbury's £500,000 is spent on the Town. Your suggestions have to be in within one short month. That's IT - the "consultation". The suggestions will be "sifted" (his word) by a person who has publicly admitted "I haven't a clue what regeneration is."

The survivors of this process will be decided on in secret and recommended to Arun by a group who publish no minutes or agendas, some of whom have a vested financial interest in the Town and the majority of whom aren't elected and don't represent anybody but themselves. Arun calls this a "partnership" but nobody, including them, will tell us the address of this group, who funds it, who funds its organiser, who appoints the members and how they qualify. It's all a big secret.

Is this how the Multiplex will be foisted on us? How Swansea Gardens will be sold? How the Waterloo Square Bowlers will be ousted and the West Park will be covered with.....what? Is this the "lots of consultation" we were promised by Arun?

Arun District Council's new Chief Executive, Nigel Lynn, will be attending to tell us how he sees the future of Arun under his leadership. This is your opportunity to ask him questions and perhaps let him know how you think his Council can start a new era of positive co-operation with the people of Bognor Regis - and anything else you think appropriate!
