Bognor could benefit from £600,000 jobs investment
The funding will be used to help attract higher-value employment and raise the skills of the local workforce to support enterprise@bognorregis – Arun's answer to the government sponsored enterprise zones.
Proposals include attracting new cutting edge and knowledge based employment opportunities to the town, and developing a campus of small business units.
The funding boost comes from West Sussex County Council's £50 million 'kick start' package for infrastructure and developments, also announced today (date here). The investment fund includes £15 million worth of support for new projects, many of which are being developed in conjunction with district and borough councils across the county.
Arun District Council's Cabinet Member for Economic and Cultural Development, Councillor Norman Dingemans, said: "We welcome any additional funding to help us progress our plans for Bognor Regis and news of this £600,000 will give us a great boost.
"We know what needs to be done in Bognor Regis. Employment growth is currently hampered by a lack of suitable premises and this money will help us unlock yet more doors to help make our vision for the town a reality."
West Sussex County Council's Policy and Resources Select Committee will discuss details of the £50million investment package at County Hall in Chichester Thursday, December 8.
